Barisan thinks of changing name to Parti 1Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: The current rulling party in Malaysia, Barisan National is thinking of changing its party’s to Parti 1Malaysia.

Barisan National has been formed in the year 1973. According to sources, this will allow direct individual membership while retaining the current parties in the coalition

The coalition of UMNO, MCA and MIC are the three main purely racial based parties makes up Barisan National.

This name change would be an evolution for Barisan National from a purey a party-based coalition to one that includes individuals seeking a non-communal way to be part of the ruling party.

The Federal Territories Minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said they are throwing out names to rename their current party.

Name such as Part 1Malaysia, New Barisan, 1Barisan Malaysia and also United Malaysians National Organisation are some of the names that have been suggested.

No new news so far had been settled upon.

Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said that they would first carry out a study to ensure that changing the party’s basic structure is a feasible proposal before the issue of any new name would be tackled first.
