Summary: Compared to the previous generation, this all new Forester is definitely better looking, smart and fast despite the fact that the fuel consumption is bad.

Subaru has always been good in making any car segments look wild and fast. The all new 2013 Forester does exactly the same but it’s ten times better than you think it is.

Spaciousness

Everything looks bigger and that includes the interior as well. Bigger boot for more luggage entries, more headroom, more legrooms and the wide opening doors makes it easier for you to get in and out of the SUV.

Visibility

Amazing wide windshield makes it easier for you to drive around with a clearer “picture” on what’s going on around you.

Standard Features

It’s very generous for Subaru to offer solid features with just a very low price of RM185k+ and above (in Malaysia). Below are some of the features that we think is necessary for you guys to know.

  • Sunroof
  • Hill hold
  • Power mirrors
  • Cruise control
  • 4 total speakers
  • Aux audio input
  • ABS

The Things That Keeps You Alive

  • ABS
  • Dual airbags
  • Daytime running lights
  • Auto headlamps
  • Stability control
  • Front and rear airbags
  • Emergency braking assist (EBS)
  • Engine immobilizer
  • Traction Control
  • Tire pressure monitoring
  • Security system shock sensor

There are more options as well and those come with a separate price tag.

Under the Hood

For just RM185k and above in Malaysia, this huge beast here comes with a 2.5 liter engine that has a turbo which produces a smiling 170 Horsepower.

Downsides

  • The steering is sharp but it’s light. Some might say light steering is good but it actually isn’t as you won’t be able to feel it when making a turn and this would probably create a confusion for example “Is this amount of turn enough for that particular turn”. It’s just too hard to judge unless you get use to it.
  • The automatic gearbox isn’t that smooth and it makes a little “whining” noise.
  • If you own this 2013 Subaru Forester, you will need a little extra cash to carry in your pocket as the fuel consumption is pretty bad.
