Muslim dog trainer detained over a video she made 3 years ago!

Kuala Lumpur, 31st July – Police has detained a muslim dog trainer, Maznah Mohd Yusof and is currently under investigation. This is in relation to a video she made 3 years ago which is deemed to insult Islam. Maznah is popularly known as Chetz Yusof.

She is arrested under the Section 298 of the Penal Code which is about “Uttering words, etc with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person.

In the 104 second video which was posted in YouTube, it can be seen walking and bathing with her dogs as the “Takbir Raya”, or Muslim call to prayer traditionally reserved for the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, plays in the background.

Dogs are considered unclean by Muslims in Malaysia.

It is reported that Maznah claim she made the video in 2010 to show that dogs are not “Haram” (Forbidden) as widely believe, and muslim are allowed to keep dogs. source

If the dogs got wet, then just perform a ritual cleansing or also known as “Samak”.

Maznah then told news site Free Malaysia today in a 2011 interview that she is a follower of the Shafie school of thought in Islam and it is said that dogs are not deemed to be ‘haram”. It is just required for muslim to cleanse themselves if they ever touch a wet dog.

It is believe that the recent controversial post by Alvin Tan and Vivian lee (The couple posted a picture of themselves eating ‘bak kut teh’, a herbal pork dish and wrote greetings of “Selamat Berbuka Puasa” along with the halal sign” For more information click here) has led to Maznah arrest.

Maznah then denied she had insulted islam as claimed by her haters. She then said it was her Muslim haters who is misguided in their own religion.

Maznah then said ” I love my religion, I think these people should learn about their religion first, and not misinterpret my video, which was made three years ago.”.
She then added that her religion has taught her cleanliness, that is why in her video it can be seen that she is cleaning her dog.

She has receive many threats, and even the mosque imam in her area also expressed his anger over this matter.

Maznah then mention she is dissapointed with the religious leader as he is suppose to have a better understanding on Islam. Islam does not forbid muslim from keeping dogs.

She also mention that her arrest has a relation with the case of bloggers, Alvin tan and Vivian lee. Initially she was mistook as a chinese.
