Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) are prepared to take Malaysian Students out of Egypt
The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) are prepared to take Malaysian students out of Egypt due to the conflict situation which has worsen which poses to the threats of their lives, said Minister Datuk Seri HIshammudin.
2 units of The Royal Malaysian Air Force’s (RMAF) C130 aircraft has set to be prepared for the operation .
He said that the travel time for the C130 aircraft is longer than of a commercial flight which will be difficult to get diplomatic clearance for air space and this operation would be costly.
“Nonetheless, if we cannot take our students out by commercial flights, or if the safety level of our students is critical, ATM will launch the mission to take out the students,” he told a press conference after visiting Terendak and Sungai Udang camps today.
Defense Minister Datuk Seri Hishammudin decided to take the students out of Egypt, they would be flown straight to Malaysia instead of having to go to Jeddah first.
However, the Malaysian embassy in Cairo said that there was no need for Malaysian students or citizen to return back to Malaysia.
“We are monitoring the situation in Cairo closely and we will take immediate action if the situation worsens. We have also advised all students to report to the embassy and their respective sponsor’s office about the latest situation there,” he said.
